Newmanstown, PA (June 6) - Maybe the months of June, July, August, and September will be kinder to the northeastern speedways, racers, and fans?
The early racing season weather has not been very friendly to the area's tracks, as evidenced by Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. The Clyde has fallen victim to inclement weather on four of its seven scheduled race nights thus far in 2018, with one event (May 5) getting wet after all of the qualifying races were complete. Those postponed features still need to be made up, and that process is set to begin this Saturday, June 9.
On Saturday, June 9th, with everyone eager to race, Lanco officials are set to complete the 600cc and Sportsman features from May 5th (the 600's also have a consolation race to run to set their field), then they will spin off an entirely new racing program for the five weekly divisions. Fans will be treated to seven big main events (for the price of five) on June 9!
The following week, June 16, the remaining two make-up features from May 5 will be run, as the Viper Chassis 270cc and the 250cc Four-Stroke Micros will (finally!) complete the show that began six weeks prior. The 270's had spun off a couple of laps before the moisture became too much to bear on the 5th of May, and their make-up feature will begin from that point. After the make-up races, a full program of heats, consolations, and 25-lap features will be presented. It's another seven feature night at the normal five feature price!
On June 9 and 16, gates will open at 3:30 p.m. and warm-ups get the nod at approximately 5:15. Racing, beginning with the make-up consi and features for the 600’s and Sportsman, will begin right after hot laps are finished.
Coming up on Saturday, June 23, is the rescheduled Kids Night presented by DMI (Diversified Machine, Inc.), with an exhibition race by the Honeybrook Quarter-Midget Club. There will be games and activities, along with prizes and giveaways, for the kids in attendance that night.
The temperature is rising, and so is the racing action at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway! Come on out and LIVE the excitement that is Lanco!
