Newmanstown, PA - The RTS Chassis "Spring Has Sprung" regular season opener at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway fell victim to the unseasonable weather on Saturday (when Spring definitely "sprung" back to winter), postponing the event to this Saturday, April 16.
The point chases will begin for all five weekly divisions - the 600cc, 270cc, 125cc, Sportsman, and the Sports n' Turf 250cc Four-Stroke Micro-Sprints - on Saturday night, with warm-ups getting underway at 5 p.m. and the first heat race going green at 6:00.
A rule change that was adopted over the winter months will allow non-members to compete this Saturday, along with any Lanco club members who may not have gone through and passed inspection. That was not the case in past years, but it was decided to amend the rule to say "if the first point race is rained out, then non-members and members who have not yet passed inspection may race when the first point race is held."
A quick run through tech is all that is needed for non-members and club members who have not yet passed through the inspection line.
All five classes will compete in qualifying heats, consolations (if needed), and 25-lap feature races this Saturday, April 16.
We'll hope for some warmer and dry weather for this Saturday, so that we can really say "Spring Has Sprung" and we can all LIVE the excitement that is Lanco!
