It had been three straight weeks of beautiful and, most importantly, dry weather at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. However, the luck unfortunately ran out on Saturday night, as persistent rain began to fall just before the start of the opening feature. Since all heat races were completed, makeup features have been scheduled for all four classes. The Skeet Craft Collision Sportsman division and the Hyper Racing 600s will make up their features next Saturday night, while the 125/4 Stroke class and the 270s will make up their main events in two weeks.
Matt Fernsler, Alex Lukacs, and Justin Harrington took heat race victories in the 125/4 Stroke division. An inversion pill of 10 puts Holden Eckman, who was the quickest car during hot laps, and Don Hess on the front row for the feature slated to be made up on May 8th.
It was all in the family for the 270 heat races, as Nick Skias, who also ran the fastest lap during hot laps, and Mike Skias took victories in the heat races. An inversion pill of 3 puts Anthony Yerger on pole with Mike Skias alongside for the May 8th feature.
Courtney Kupp, Mike Kreiser, and Bret Cronrath, the latter of whom shared the quick time in hot laps with Dave Ravel, took home the heat race wins in the Skeet Craft Collision Sportsman division. An inversion pill of 11 will put Chelsey Moore and Dave Williams on the front row for that makeup feature next Saturday night.
The Hyper Racing 600 heat races were won by Logan Rumsey, Will Urkuski, and Jason Swavely. The inversion pill of 2 means that Urkuski will start on pole with Rumsey to his outside. The quick time in hot laps was turned by Nick Skias, but Skias had to overcome several problems throughout the remainder of the night. Skias held off Tyler Ulrich for the final transfer spot in the consi and will roll of 24th for next Saturday night’s feature.
Next Saturday, May 1st will be World Olympic Night at the Clyde, with a wheelie contest also slated if time permits. The makeup features for the Skeet Craft Collision Sportsman class and the Hyper Racing 600s will take place prior to the regularly scheduled heat and feature races for the evening. To accommodate for the extra races, gates will open at 3:30, will warm ups and racing slated to begin at 5:00. With some extra feature races to come over the next couple of weeks, there has never been a better time to come out and LIVE the excitement that is Lanco!
