All Heat Races Completed; The Five Features Will Be Made Up
With all of the heat races in the books, a thundershower rolled in and soaked Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday night. It was brief, and Lanco club officials thought there might be a chance of getting the track back into shape, but a loss of power meant there would not be any lights to illuminate the speedway, so the remainder of the program was postponed. Dates for making up the five postponed features will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
Downed trees, victims of the storm, were blamed for the loss of electricity. The trees fell on power lines a short distance from the race track and the local utility company estimated a 1-1/2 to 2 hour wait until power would be restored.
Up next is the Weber’s Landscaping Firecracker 40, presented by Richie Hartman Promotions, on Saturday, July 6. The event features 40-lap A-Mains for wingless 600 Sprints and winged 270 Sprints. Both of those 40-lappers will pay a whopping $2,000 to the winner. Also on the card are the All Star Slingshots in a 20-lap A-Main that’s offers a $750 payday to the victorious driver.
The Clyde gets back to point-paying events on July 13, when the Hyper Racing 600 Sprints, the Viper Chassis 270 Sprints, Sportsman, 125cc, and 250cc Four-Strokes battle in qualifying heats, consolations, and 25-lap features.
Gates open at 4:30 with warm-ups getting underway at 6 p.m. The first heat race goes green at 7:00.
