Below is a synopsis of the major rule changes for 2023 season. The updated rule books can be found here:
Sportsman Engine Rules
Stock OEM or aftermarket direct replacement cranks and rods may be used as long as they are of OEM configuration and specification.
A procedure has been put into place for mid-season engine rule changes due to parts shortages.
Wingless 600s will have a durometer rule for the right rear tire starting after 6/1/2023. The tire must durometer 50 before and after the race event. There is no brand or compound rule, only the durometer rule.
Sportsman and 125/4 Stroke Lineups
Sportsman and 125/4 Stroke lineups will use the same format as the 600 and 270 classes:
Heats to be lineup by pill draw.
Top half of field to redraw for feature lineup.
Previous week winner to start no better than 6th. No penalty for missing week.
Race Procedures
A driver may be stopped on the track to check for the presence of a raceiver. If there is no raceiver the driver will be black flagged from the event.
Eligibility for a driver to compete in the Clyde Martin Memorial has been revised to three (3) point races.
If a driver cannot compete in a feature they are previously qualified because of a medical condition, the driver will still receive last place points and pay for the feature.
If a driver does not compete in 50% of the point shows and still finishes in the top 15 in points, that driver’s point fund money will go back to the following year’s general point fund.
